project title

Autonomous SWATH vehicle

Project research activities

The aim of the research is to make an autonomous SWATH vessel for service in the Adriatic Sea. The vessel will have electric or hybrid propulsion and the batteries will be charged via solar panels located on the superstructure. The length of the vessel is up to 6m, and the carrying capacity of the vessel will be up to 100kg. To achieve the longest possible autonomy, it is necessary to reduce the resistance of the vessel, which reduces the energy consumption for propulsion. One of the primary activities is to optimize hull resistance (CFD simulation and model testing). A SWATH hull with excellent seakeeping perfomance was chosen to overcome the difficult sea conditions. The problem of stability in this type of ship, active stabilization and maneuverability, will be solved by applying a new type of propulsor developed as part of previous projects. Existing solutions will be used for automation.
